Ramon Cardenas W10 Bryan Acosta... San Antonio, Texas' super bantamweight Ramon Cardenas put himself in great position for a world title fight by defeating Bryan Acosta on Saturday at the Boeing Center at Tech Port. Cardenas (26-1, 14 KOs) won a unanious decision over the previously undefeated Acosta (21-1, 9 KOs). The exciting bout was fought at a very high level from start to finish. Acosta started slowly but knocked Cardenas down in round seven. The knockdown was not enough for Acosta, as Cardenas prevailed by official scores were 97-92 and 95-94 (twice) Compubox had Cardenas barely outlanding Acosta, 144 punches to 139. Cardenas is hoping to land a fight against WBA #1 (and former two-belt champion) Murodjon Akhmadaliev, which could be for the vacant WBA title if the WBA strips world champion Naoya Inoue for avoiding Akhmadaliev.
