Cangelosi racks up quick win in Boston

Cristian Cangelosi KO1 Aelio Mesquita... Sicilian junior middleweight Cristian Cangelosi (9-0, 5 KOs) returned to the ring with a bang last Friday at the Royale Nightclub in Boston. Now living in Brookyln, the Palermo-born Cangelosi stopped Aelio Mesquita (21-14-1, 19 KOs) within one minute of the first round of a scheduled six rounder. Managed by Chris Gilmore Jr. and Zach Margules of Fide Management Group, the 26 year-old Cangelosi is moving up in the 154-pound division and continued towards his goal of ultimately claiming a world title, winning new fans and putting his hometown of Palermo, Sicily on the boxing map. “I was excited to fight in Boston in front of my Italian brothers and sisters for the second time.” said Cangelosi. “The energy and support from the sports fans here is incredible, and I can’t wait to come back and fight here in August or November, I believe in myself to become great in this sport, I have a great team, we will see what the future holds.”

“Cristian is a special talent with the heart of a champion,” said co-manager Gilmore Jr. “His commitment and work ethic are the reason we signed him, and we believe he has what it takes to go all the way in this sport. Every fight he is in, the fans are in for a treat because of his flashy style, and power punching skills, he really has all the skills necessary to become a major threat in the division.”

“We really would love to see Cristian take a step up in this next fight, whether it be for some kind of international / European title or fight a more formidable opponent in the US,” said co-manager Zach Margules.

Currently, Cangelosi spends his training camps as the highly recognized Salas Boxing Academy and is trained by Ismael Salas. “Cristian has already vastly improved under our tutelage; he gets great sparring most weeks and pad work every day. He is in tremendous shape and wants to be great, he’s a fighter to look out for this upcoming year,” said Salas.
