Campbell returns on July 6

The 4th of July celebrations will not be the only source of fireworks during the holiday weekend as I.B.F #1 ranked mandatory challenger Nate “The Galaxxy Warrior” Campbell continues his quest for the World Title on Friday July 6th, from Entertainment Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

One Punch Productions and Four Corners Promotions in association with Don King Productions and All Star Boxing present “FRIDAY NIGHT FIREWORKS”, an evening of world class professional boxing. Campbell, (30-5-1, 24 KO’s), who originally hails from Jacksonville but now makes his home in Tampa, is coming off a one-sided beat-down of game Ricky Quiles in an IBF mandatory elimination bout, a fight that had veteran ESPN ringside commentator Teddy Atlas literally screaming at the referee to stop the fight to save Quiles from further punishment. Campbell will face tough Columbian Wilson Alcorro in the main event of the evening. Alcorro, (35-7-3, 23 KO’s), is coming off 2 straight knockout wins, and has been in with the likes of Jorge Solis and Humberto Soto.

This is expected to be Campbell’s last non-title bout, as IBF Lightweight Champion Julio “The Kidd” Diaz must face Campbell by November or be stripped of the title. Repeated attempts to secure the Julio Diaz fight have failed, as “The Kidd” appears extremely reluctant to face Campbell. The agreement reached between Don King Productions and One Punch Productions to co-promote Campbell should not only strengthen Nate’s mandatory position, but may also assist in Nate ultimately challenging WBA/WBO Lightweight Champion Juan Diaz to be recognized as the undisputed lightweight champion.

The fireworks continue in the evenings’ co-feature bout with undefeated Venezuelan prospect Patrick “El Elegante” Lopez. Lopez (11-0, 9 KO’s), has already knocked out solid competition in Jose Badillo and Christian Lozada, and is on track to be a force in the lightweight division.

The rock-solid undercard features the best and brightest from the Bay area and beyond. Scheduled to appear are Tampa jr. welterweight Marcus “Combo” Broadnax (3-1-2, 2 KO’s), St. Pete cruiserweight Willie Chisolm (3-1, 2 KO’s), St. Pete featherweight Kermit Gonzalez (5-0-1, 3 KO’s), the professional debut of Tarpon Springs jr. middleweight Manny Cortessis, and 2 additional bouts to be announced.

Tickets are priced at  $20, $35, $75, and $100, and go on sale Saturday morning at 10:00 am at all Ticketmaster outlets, and the Florida State Fairgrounds Box Office. For more information, visit www.onepunch.net, or call 813-503-8109.
