On the heels of a successful promotion at Staples Center in LA ten days ago, promoter Dan Goossen and matchmaker Tom Brown continue to push Goossen Tutor Promotions to the forefront of the boxing industry with a California doubleheader this Thursday night, September 14.
 
Fan favorite Hector ‘Macho” Camacho, Jr. (41-2-1, 23 KOs), of Orlando, Florida will be making his second appearance at the HP Pavilion in San Jose when he takes on George Klinesmith (22-12-3, 13 KOs), Steubenville, Ohio in the scheduled 8-round junior middleweight main event.  Camacho first fought at the “Shark Tank” back in March when he defeated Virgil McClendon by unanimous decision.
 
Also slated for action in separate bouts in San Jose are heavyweights Malcolm Tann (19-2, 11 KOs) and undefeated Teke Oruh (11-0-1, 5 KOs), junior welterweight Jesus Rodriguez (10-2, 5 KOs from nearby Salinas), and Gilroy’s Kelsey Jeffries (34-9-1, 2 KOs) in a women’s super bantamweight contest.
 
An added attraction to the “Fight Night at the Tank” will be a special appearance by recently crowned IBF Featherweight champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero.  The native of nearby Gilroy and pride of the Bay area will be on hand to personally thank his loyal fans for all their support leading into his September 2nd destruction of Eric Aiken to capture his first world title.
 
At the same time that action is taking place in San Jose, Goossen Tutor will be running another show just a two-hour drive to the south at Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, which will feature popular heavyweight Javier “Monster” Mora (19-3-1, 11 KOs) in a scheduled 8-round main event versus Floridian Willie Herring (11-5-3, 2 KOs).  Mora, who hails from Anaheim, will be returning to Tachi for the first time in more than four years and will have a thundering herd of supporters in the house to cheer him on. 
 
Other local area favorites scheduled for action in separate bouts in Lemoore include undefeated lightweight Hector Alatorre (13-0, 5 KOs, Tulare), middleweight knockout artist Frank Mondejar (12-3, 12 KOs, Fresno), hard-hitting heavyweight Manuel Quezada (15-4, 11 KOs, Bakersfield), unbeaten featherweight Saul Lomas (2-0, 1 KO, Fresno) and impressive female junior flyweight Carina Moreno (9-1, 3 KOs, Watsonville).
 
“We have received tremendous response with our ‘Fight Night at the Tank’ and Tachi Palace events and both those venues have become fixtures for us to provide world class boxing entertainment,” Goossen affirmed.  “The combination of these two terrific arenas along with a plethora of local talent is the major factor in the success of these promotions.  Headlining these shows with the likes of such popular boxers as Hector Camacho, Jr. and Javier Mora, along with a hero’s welcome for the new IBF Featherweight champion of the world, Robert Guerrero, should make for an outstanding doubleheader night of boxing.  The only dilemma I have is getting to both of them.”
 
Running shows simultaneously or on consecutive days is nothing new to Goossen Tutor.  This week’s twin bill will be the second same-night effort in 2006 for arguably one of boxings busiest promotional entities.  Back on July 20, Goossen Tutor ran shows simultaneously.  On August 18-19, Goossen Tutor promoted cards on back-to-back days in Temecula, CA and Reno, NV, respectively.  On April 12 and 14, Tachi and Rancho Mirage, CA hosted Goossen Tutor events two days apart.
