Calvin Brock wants second shot at title

Boxingtalk caught up with former Heavyweight title challenger, Calvin Brock (31-1-23KO) and got his thoughts on his performance last Saturday night against Alex Gonzales (18-4-0).  Brock also reflects back on his loss against Wladimir Klitschko, and talks about what learned from that fight that he can take forward with him as he prepares for another title in the near future.

BC – What's good C Brock?  Talk about your performance against Alex Gonzales.

CB – I got some good rounds in, it's good to get those rounds in.  I trained to go the distance with my opponent.  He was pretty decent, he tried to win the fight, and he went the distance.  I think an eliminator fight will be in my near future, probably my next boxing match.

BC – Is going the full 8 rounds a blessing in disguise?

CB – Yes you can never undervalue getting rounds in boxing.  It helps you to get better, and it's good for you for training.

BC – Any talk on who you will fight next?

CB – I am not sure right now, I will let Kathy Duva figure it out, let her talk to different promoters, and we'll see what's going on.

BC – What is it that you learned most in your defeat to Wladimir Klitschko that you can take with you as you approach your next title shot?

CB – I learned how to handle the whole event better.  I learned how to not get over anxious in training, and to be more patient in the boxing match when I am fighting at that level.

BC – Recently Shannon Briggs lost his title to Sultan Ibragimov, have you had a chance to see that fight?

CB – I haven't seen it yet, I was in the back in the dressing room when they were fighting.  I still haven't had a chance to see the fight.  I have seen Sultan fight a few times, I seen him against Lance Whitaker, and Ray Austin.

BC – Do you see yourself matching up better against Sultan?

CB – Yes I think a fight between Sultan and I would be a good fight.  Normally my matches are pretty exciting, even my fight against Gonzales.

BC – What grade do you give yourself on your performance against Gonzales?

CB – I give myself a C, I wasn't happy with my performance.  I was happy to get in the rounds, and I was happy to learn myself better with my new team, my dad and Pernell Whitaker.

BC – Outside of the ring you got involved in a travel agency, talk about that.

CB – Yes, my travel agency company is under Your-Travelbiz.  YTB is the second largest online travel agency in the country.  80 percent of people who book travel do it online.  Your-Travelbiz let people get into the company and start a down line with their own websites, and they go out and recruit other people into the business.  You can make a lot of money with this, last year someone got a one million dollar bonus.  All you have to do is go to www.ytb.com/calvinbr  if you want to get into the business, visit me there.

BC – Is there anything that you would like to say to your fans in closing?

CB – Keep watching Calvin Brock, congratulations to Sultan Ibragimov.
