Caballero looks ahead to bigger fights

Press Release: Opportunities are not limited to just the 122-pound division for new WBA super bantamweight champion Celestino Caballero. Not when he stands an amazing 6-foot-1-1/2-inches tall. “Celestino can keep campaigning in the 122-pound division, but with his size he also can move up to the 126-pound division, and, perhaps, even the 130-pound division,” said Scott Woodworth, vice president of Sycuan Ringside Promotions, which co-promotes Caballero along with Seminole Warriors Boxing.  Caballero won the WBA super bantamweight title last week with a third-round technical knockout of Somsak Sithchatchawal in Thailand. Helping decided Caballero’s future course is his advisor, veteran boxing figure Sampson Lewkowicz. “Very few thought Celestino could go to Thailand and beat Sithchatchawal,” said Lewkowicz.  “But I wasn’t surprised.  In fact, I expected it. Celestino can punch, he can box and, as was proven last week, can and will finish an opponent,” said Lewkowicz.  “He’s 30 (years old) and been a pro for eight years, so he isn’t intimidated by fighting in somebody’s backyard.” Caballero, from Colon, Panama, has a record of 25-2 with 18 knockouts, including a one-sided, 12-round unanimous decision over current WBO junior featherweight champion Daniel Ponce de Leon last year.
