CES RELEASE TO BOXINGTALK: Promoter Jimmy Burchfield once again has offered former Commonwealth light middleweight champion Ossie Duran as an opponent for Ishe Smith. “I read on BoxingTalk.com that Ishe wants to get a fight as soon as possible,” Burchfield said. “Well, I have a spot for him May 21 against Ossie at Lincoln Park in Rhode Island. When he was looking for a good opponent last year, I offered him Ossie. His promoter (Golden Boy) said they were interested but never followed up and Ishe ended-up fighting a 9-6-1 guy and knocking him out in the second round. If Ishe’s serious this time about taking on a real fighter, my offer is still on the table for Ossie, who is rated No. 28 by the WBC. Duran (23-5-1, 9 KOs), born in Ghana and now fighting out of Providence, registered a third-round knockout of current British champion Jamie Moore in 2004 for the Commonwealth light middleweight title. In his last fight, Duran won a unanimous eight-round decision (80-70, 80-70, 78-72) against Jonathan Reid, who was on The Contender I with Smith. Ossie is unbeaten in three fights since being signed by Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment & Sports, Inc. For more information about CES call 401. 724.2253 or go to www.cesboxing.com.
