Boxingtalk has learned that Jameel McCline just might get the purse bid he has been seeking from the IBF. Although promoter Don King announced earlier this week he plans to stage McCline's manadatory challenge of IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd on November 13, the IBF has apparently ordered King to finalize all of the details by today (Friday) or else it will send the bout to a purse bid on August 19, 2004. Under a purse bid procedure, King could bid, as could McCline's promoter Cedric Kushner or any other promoter registered with the IBF. Byrd has been promoted by King for his last three bouts but recently sued to get out of his contract, only to sign a bout agreement with King for the McCline bout. Stay tuned for more.
