Bute wins Romanian homecoming

According to Canadian Press reports, Lucian Bute easily kept his perfect record intact by blasting out a rugged but overmatched Donnie McCrary in four rounds in his native Romania. The young Romanian gave his hometown crowd a dominant performance, relying heavily on his improving body attack to soften up McCrary, who gamely squared off and traded shots on several occasions, but to no avail. The Canadian-based Bute sent his opponent to the canvas a total of three times, the last one for a full ten-count in Round four. Bute, rated #28 by Boxingtalk, keeps his perfect KO record intact at 12-0, 12 KOs while McCrary drops to 9-2-1, 7 KOs. On the undercard, cruiserweight Adrian Diaconu is now 17-0, 10 KOs after taking out James Crawford, 40-10-2 in the first round.  --Alex Pelletier
