After losing a WBO featherweight title bid to Scott Harrison, Michael Brodie told the BBC he was retiring from the sport. If the heat-of-the-moment announcement sticks, Brodie leaves the game with a 35-3-1 mark, with all three losses and the draw coming in world title bouts. Brodie drew with Willie Jorrin in 2000 for Jorrin's WBC 122-pound title. In 2003-2004, Brodie had two bouts with In Jin Chi for the vacant WBC 126-pound title but came away with a draw and stoppage loss. On Saturday, Harrison's body attack did Brodie in during the fourth round. Brodie will remain in the Boxingtalk ratings until it is clear he will stick to his word, but the loss will drop him well below the #7 spot he currently occupies. -Scott Shaffer
