British 130-pound title fight heating up

Press Release: British super featherweight champion Carl Johanneson has declared Leeds Town Hall as his home turf and vows to destroy Ricky Burns when the two meet on February 9, 2007 for a scheduled twelve round championship contest. Johanneson, 25-2, spent the first four years of his pro career in America, sparring with the likes of Acelino Freitas and Frankie Toledo. Since returning to the UK, the former British Army soldier and three time ABA Champion has won ten of his eleven bouts.  Burns, 15-1, has a good resume as well, having already moved up a weight class two years ago to shock reigning British lightweight champion Graham Earl with a wide points victory. Burns' lone loss is to Alex Arthur. Frank Maloney Promotions will stage this title fight at Town Hall in Leeds, England on Friday, February 9, 2007. Tickets are available by logging onto www.frankmaloney.com or by calling the Box Office 0871 226 1508. Sky TV will broadcast the card live on SS1 at 22:00.
