Briggs throws out first pitch at Marlins game

Press Release: Less than two months away from his first title defense, WBO heavyweight titlist Shannon Briggs threw out the honorary first pitch at the Florida Marlins game this past Saturday.  The champ also signed autographs for fans and made it an extraordinary day for one special kid, Pat Pedraja, who is fighting leukemia.  Pedraja who is 11 years old, founded the popular website (drivingfordonors.com) to help save the lives of people who need bone marrow transplants. He got to take the field with Briggs and land a playful punch to Briggs' jaw. After receiving a team jersey from owner Jeff Loria, Briggs took fun pictures with All-Stars Miguel Cabrerra and Dan Uggla.  All in all it was a great day for Americas only heavyweight champion.  Shannon Briggs' first title defense against undefeated Russian southpaw Sultan Ibragimov, is scheduled for June 2, 2007 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J.
