Briggs Decisions Drews, Now Tarver's Mandatory

World class light heavyweight Paul "The Hurricane" Briggs won a wide margin unanimous decision over fellow world rated light heavyweight Stipe Drews in a sanctioned eliminator for the mandatory position in the WBC. Drews, who wound up losing three points during the contest, was in control early. Briggs landed a big left hook that turned the tide in his favor, "in either the fourth or fifth round," said Briggs manager Mark Jones." Briggs dropped Drews to the canvas three times en route to the unanimous decision. Judges scored the bout 117 105, 113-109 and 115-109. Drews joins Castro, Kelley and Ruiz among the top ten contenders to fall victim to the Hurricane Paul. Boxingtalk.com will be speaking with Briggs shortly, stay tuned.
