Boxingtalk salutes former three-belt welterweight champion Errol Spence, Jr., who announced his retirement following last weelend's decision loss to Tim Tszyu. Spence addressed his future while giving Tszyu credit for his performance. “It was a good fight and congratulation to Tim. It’s been a great event and everyone has treated me well. It was a good showing by Tim. I answered a lot of questions for myself and now it’s time to go home with my family and start a new life. I’ve got my faculties intact and my money is working for itself. I’m thankful to leave this sport with my family by my side.” Age 36, Spence hangs up his gloves with a 28-2 record. The two losses were in his fonal two bouts: to pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford in 2023 and then to Tszyu. The big wins on Spence's ledger are Chris Algieri, Kell Brook, Lamont Peterson, Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter, Danny Garcia and Yordenis Ugas, all of whom were champions at one time or another. The most significant win was over Danny Garcia as it came just thirteen months after Spence was involved in a high-speed autombile crash.
