Boxingtalk releases new world ratings

The official Boxingtalk world ratings were released Monday, March 7, 2005.  On the strength of his victory over Julio Diaz on Saturday, Jose Luis Castillo has been named the #1 lightweight in the world according to Boxingtalk.  Castillo moves ahead of Diego Corrales, but if all goes well, Corrales will have the chance to reclaim the top spot on May 7, 2005 when he is tentatively scheduled to face Castillo. The winner of that bout would join seven other men as Boxingtalk world champions, as well as the winner of the Wayne Braithwaite-Jeam Marc Mormeck cruiserweight bout. Other boxers who recently moved into top spots in the Boxingtalk ratings include Fabrice Tiozzo, who became the #3 light heavyweight by knocking out Dariusz Michalczewski, Almazbek Raiymkulov, the new #9 lightweight courtesy of his sound defeat of Koba Gogoladze and Robbie Peden, who ascended to #9 at junior lightweight with a decisive second win over Nate Campbell.  To see Boxingtalk’s full top thirty in all seventeen weight classes, please follow this link:
