Greg Leon: Congrats on your first round KO over Gonzalo Dallera (5-2) the other night, can you give us some thoughts on your performance? Willie Jones: "I felt I did OK. I'm still trying to work on all the things that need to be worked on and I'm still sharpening up my tools, but I feel like it was an alright performance." GL: What kept you out of the ring for the last six months? "I had some issues with getting some fights, but everything is good now. There's been some talk of me coming right back sometime between April and June."
GL: How did you and coach Shields first link up?
Willie Jones: "The fight that's a loss on my record [Livan Navarro], he was there for. He saw what happened and he was upset by it. It was supposed to be a TV fight, but they switched me at the last minute and made me come on before TV so we had to rush everything in the dressing room and then when my hair came out during the fight they gave it to him."
GL: On Boxrec they show scores of 10-7. Were you knocked down twice in the round?
WJ: "I didn't go down at all. I slipped on one shot and the guy started counting and then my hair came loose, this is when I had long dreads and they stopped the fight and gave it to him."
GL: Is that a rematch you want to get to set the record straight on that?
WJ: "I would love to get that."
GL: Prior to that fight with Navarro you were off for almost two years. Why is that?
WJ: "I was dealing with injuries and had to get them fixed. Once there were fixed I was back in the ring, but I had a labrum tear in my shoulder. I rushed back in too quick as well, but I have no excuses."
GL: Where do you want to be by the end of the year?
WJ: "I want to be prospect of the year and next year I want to be in the talks for titles."
GL: Who do you like in Porter-Ugas?
WJ: "That's going to be a pretty action packed fight. They both come forward, but I think I'm going to have to go with Shawn Porter. He's got the most experience and he's coming off a winning streak and I know he wants to keep his title."
GL: What about Spence and Garcia?
WJ: "I'm going with Spence, I think he's too big for Garcia. I don't agree with him moving up two weight classes."
GL: What about Crawford and Khan?
WJ: "Crawford. I think Terence Crawford is the most skilled fighter out of all these guys at welterweight. I like his skill set."
GL: Closing thoughts for the fans.
WJ: "Keep on the lookout for me. I'm going to make the sport hot."
