GL: 2007 hasn't been kind to you. I'm sure you can't wait for a fresh start in the New Year. What are your goals for 2008? "This wasn't my year this year, so I'm just looking to get a good couple of wins in. Hopefully I'll be able to shoot for some sort of regional title by this time next year."
GL: When will your next fight take place?
Nick Casal: "Yeah, I'm going to be fighting on February 1. It'll be an off TV bout."
GL: So basically the game plan is to get a couple of wins under your belt and then get in there with a guy kind of like the ones you were unsuccessful against this year?
NC: "Yeah. Hopefully a rematch with Antonio DeMarco."
GL: What do you feel you need to improve on to reverse the outcome in that fight?
NC: "A little bit more defense. Body shots and defense and that's what we've been working on. If I can stick to his body I think I can take him out."
GL: What are your thoughts on the lightweight division?
NC: "There's a lot of good talent at the top. Then there's a bunch of other guys I'd like to fight there's Anthony Peterson, there's Edner Cherry, there's a whole bunch of guys in the division."
GL: Do you feel the changes that need to be made to achieve success are more mental than physical?
NC: "It's a little bit of both, but it's a lot mental. I'm working with a great trainer right now in Steve Roland. He keeps me on point and we're getting our training in everyday."
GL: Is Anthony Peterson somebody that you're targeting?
NC: "I would eventually love to get a shot at him too. You know if it's for the right title and it makes sense I think it would be great for me. I would also like to fight Edner Cherry. It would be an exciting fight and he's a strong fighter who comes to fight."
GL: What did you think about his recent performance against Wes Ferguson?
NC: "He looked great, he beat him up worse than the first time and he finished him off. It was a good win for him, but it didn't prove much for him."
GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?
NC: "I'd just like to say Happy Holidays to everyone and thank you for keeping me in mind for the interview."
