Boxingtalk's Fire With Troy Rowland!

Taylor Better Be Ready For One Heck Of A War

Jose Aguirre: You seem to be the front runner for a fight with Jermaine Taylor. Give me your thoughts on that.

Troy Rowland: "Yeah, that's what I'm hearing. That's sounding good to me. That's an opportunity I've been waiting for a long time. I think it's going to be a good thing."

JA: Have you been in the gym and are you ready to take on this challenge?

TR: "Yeah. I pretty much stay in shape all the time. I think it's great that I get to find out about the fight and I have six weeks to train hard and get in even better shape. It's perfect timing for my career. I think it's going to go good. I've seen Jermaine fight alot. He is a great fighter. I know he's a great fighter but he has some flaws. Everbody has flaws. He's beatable I think. And i think there alot of people out there I'm sure that look at me as an opponent that Jermaine is going to blow out of the water but they're going to be surprised."

JA: What can we expect from Troy Rowland when he steps into the ring?

TR: "Basically I'm a pretty exciting fighter. I throw alot of punches. I fight a little different fight depend on who I'm fighting. Like with Jermaine I have tapes on him that I can study and he probably has some on me too. I think you're going to see a real exciting fight and it's going to be a heck of a battle all the way to the end."

JA: Share your thoughts on how you think your fight with Mendoza played out.

TR: "Mendoza comes in as he does with all his opponents and he's trying to knock me out in the first round. Pretty much on all judges scorecards he won that first round. He was just burning his tank out.  Then I won every round other than the first except the seventh when I thought I was winning the round and got knocked down. I got back up to finish and win the fight. It went real good. There were aot of people thinking he would be able to knock me out or think he could maybe stop me but that didn't hyappen."

JA: What did you learn from that fight?

TR: "You learn a little something from every fight. I see little things that maybe I'm doing wrong here and there. Not anything real big. Not anything new that I really didn't know before. He surprised me a little but with his power. But we knew he was strong. You learn something from every fight."

JA: Do you think you'll be able to handle the atmosphere of a big fight once you step in the ring with Jermaine Taylor?

TR: "I think it would be just as big as any crowd I ever fought in front of. I walk into the ring and look at the guy at the other side of the ring. Whatever happens outside the ring I worry about that after the fight."

JA: Did you see Jermaine's fight with William joppy and if so what are your thoughts on it.

TR: "Yeah I seen that fight. Real good. Jermaine is looking sharp and he always does. He's a good fighter. Joppy was doing real well when he was moving and countering Jermaine but as soon as Joppy got caught I thought he kinda gave up and started backing up and trying to survive the rest of the fight which has never been the case with me. He's going to have to work harder than that to take me out because i don't run from anybody."

JA: Is there anything you want to say to the boxing public or anyone out there who doesn't know about Troy Rowland?

TR: "Just be ready for a great fight and ready for a heck of a war. There are going to be alot of people that will be surprised with what comes out of me. Obviously I don't have as big a name as Jermaine Taylor but hopefully after this fight I will."
