BoxingTalk Prospect Watch: Yukeno Andino

Andino blasts Berto, says he knocked De La Hoya out of the ring with an uppercut!

GL: What can you tell us about your upcoming bout on January 26? "First of all I have to thank ESPN for giving me the opportunity to fight on their network again. I want to let everyone know that they can have confidence in me and I promise that this year I will become some type of world champion and in the future everyone is going to know who I am."

GL: What are your goals for 2007?

Yukeno Andino: "I want to win a regional title, get a few eight and ten rounders in and then start gunning for that title. The longer fights go, the stronger I get. I fight like Marvin Hagler, I get stronger as the rounds go on."

GL: What do you feel will seperate you from the other welterweight prospects?

YA: "The most important thing is I have the balls and the hear that it takes to become champion. Second I switch from lefty to righty and I'm telling you a lot of time when people see me fight they compare me to Marvin Hagler.

GL: Who will you be fighting on January 26?

YA: "I'm not sure yet but as soon as I know we'll be calling up Boxingtalk.com."

GL: Is there anyone out there at welterweight that you'd like to make your mark against?

YA: "Yeah, Andre Berto. I want to fight Andre Berto anytime. I don't know what it is, but that guy is scared of me. I would fight him right now, and he knows who I am. I fought at 178 and lost a decision to Andre Ward to go to the Olympic trials. I'm 147 right now and Andre Berto is scared of me, but if I ever got him the ring I would have fun with him and then look to fight Paul Williams somewhere down the line. But Andre Berto can get it whenever he wants it.

"I would bet my whole paycheck for that fight that I would beat him. Andre Berto has nothing for me and Andre Berto can't take my punch. He told me that I would be the next Marvin Hagler in boxing. We could fight in New York, Vegas, Florida anywhere. I know I would knock him out in less than four rounds."

GL: How many times would you like to fight in 2007?

YA: "I want to fight a few times at 147 and then move on to 154. I could go up and down it doesn't matter to me. I want to fight Andre Berto."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

YA: "Yeah, I want to tell you something that not a lot of people know this. I was the main sparring partner for Oscar De La Hoya when he fought Mayorga and I knocked De La Hoya out of the ring with an uppercut. And then his brother came running crying to take his gloves off. After that De La Hoya became a little f**king crybaby to me."
