Hey Dabreadman Been checking your stuff out lately (some downtime from slow biz), and can’t help but notice your bias towards Floyd Mayweather. Perhaps you want to keep your job and have to share the same view of the situation with your boss. I can understand that. If that is not the case as I hope you would claim, then answer these questions for me. Why can’t Floyd Mayweather Jr. be the First to take our beloved sport to the next level of fair competition? Why can’t this event with two of the most known boxers be the vehicle to take our sports to the highest level of play? Before you answer, let me remind you that every major changes in this world, revolves around an event and or a special persona. In this case we have an event, expected highest grossing fight in the boxing world, and you have two special fighters Mayweather and Pacquiao. Consider that Floyd has given everybody he fought since he changed his name to “money” the biggest paydays of their careers, Gatti, Judah, Baldomir, Almighty Oscar(highest grossing fight so far), Hatton, Marquez, and is about to give Manny the biggest payday of his career, true story. Why shouldn’t this guy that is giving everybody their biggest payday, be in a position to make a positive change in our sports, WHY? Because people don’t like him. Regardless of his motives it is a positive spin for our sports (What politician does not have a personal agenda in promoting a Law, yet they are supposed to be positive laws). You already know why Manny is special and he, could also be the flag bearer of improved testing in boxing by simply taking the test, his name will forever will be linked to the first boxer to take the tests, setting precedence, but alas, he is letting smarty pants Floyd steal the show. Floyd already landed the first punch and Pac don’t seem to know the best way to defend himself, could this be a preview to March 13th? I will have a lot more respect for boxingtalk writers if their opinions differ from that of their boss.
Breads Response: Wow! You really came at me really hard so let me clarify a few things. If Greg Leon told me I had to express his opinion as my own then I would not be bothered writing for this site. I am a MAN before anything. As for me be bias towards Floyd I am not. Im gonna go on record right now, so save this link and refer to it. I think Floyd Mayweather is one of the top 50 fighters pound for pound ever. I also think he is one of the 3 greatest junior lightweights ever. I also think he along with Manny Pacquio is the best fighter of the last decade. Now as far as the blood testing, if Floyd wanted to do this the right way he would’ve went to the NSAC and put a petition in for blood test. That way Manny would’ve had to adhere. But Floyd didn’t he went public as soon as Manny refused and that has caused a negative undertone with the fight. I have went on record to say that this is BOTH fighter faults. Now I must admit ,I was turned off by Floyd when he stated he was greater than Ali because Ali lost to Leon Spinks when Spinks had only 8 pro fights. He also stated he was better than Ray Leonard because Leonard lost to Camacho at 40 yrs old. That to me is a lack of humility. I have no problem with a guy being brash n cocky, but cot dam! There is no defense for those kinds of statements. Could you imagine Michael Phelps disrespecting Mark Spitz or Usain Bolt disrespecting Carl Lewis. Anybody who can defend that has to look himself in the mirror.
Dear bread, All the floyd haters out there need to get a life! Floyd Mayweather has beaten all of the top welterweights out there...correction he has beaten all of the top earning welterweights in the world when it was time to fight zab judah he fought him, when it was time to fight carlos baldomir he fought him regardless of the facts baldomir is a top argentina fighter and when he fights on ppv alot of buys come from that part of the world. When floyd was called out by american ppv juggernot Oscar da la hoya he happily obliged and wipped that ass before he destroyed england's top ppv draw Ricky "the get hit man" hatton. The Question that fake boxing fans ask always is "Why don't he fight mosley, cotto or pwill?" I'll tell you why, they have to get their buys up plain and simple! Why fight one of these very dangerous but inconsistant fighters on "Showtime" or boxing after dark because with the exception of cotto, that is where mosley, pwill and the rest of the top welterweighter's fight on because their just coming off of some kind of freakish loss that makes the networks turn their backs. I love the sport of boxing and I love to see a good fight but put yourself in Floyd's shoes for a second, Why fight pwill on world championship boxing for a $6 million dollar purse when you can fight marquez on ppv for a $25 million buy share?
Breads Response: The one thing I can’t understand about Floyd backers is, you guys always spit out false statements to back up what you claim to be the truth. Let me clarify something if Floyd fight Mosley or Pwill it will be a PPV fight. Secondly as of right now Mosley is the biggest fight out there for Floyd besides Pacman. Floyd should make about 15 mil for that fight. So don’t try to minimize a fight with Shane and that’s the fight he needs to make the kind of money he wants. He should have no problem making that fight because Shane is willing to take every test they want. So let’s see if it gets made.
Whats up boxingtalk. This is B legit. This was a response to G, Ishe, and Bread. Okay, I'm a Pac fan and I am not in the liking of PBF. I have been in boxing whether it be competing, training, or coaching for a total of 21 years. Unlike most I am a boxing fan first and I side with the truth instead of what I want the truth to be. I know its like a common rule but this Pac PBF situation it is very wrong for people to blame PBF. First off, PBF never said Pac was on PEDs. Secondly, it is the job of the fighter to protect him or herself at all times. I put myself in the shoes of PBF, even though I dislike him, and as a fighter he is doing what a fighter should do if he or she cares about a level playing field. Pac and his team have been getting everything they wanted in their last few fights and have made sure they get a level weight playing field by fighting Cotto at 145 with a $1 million/lb. penalty. With PBF they are making unheard of and ridiculous penalties per pound. If PBF would've said the fight is off due to this demand then everybody and their daddy would be calling PBF scared. PBF's team wanting random blood testing, the most effective way to catch PED cheats, is protecting their welfare. Who is anybody outside of the fighters in the ring to say you are wrong for asking that??? Then to say whats good enough for the commission is good enough for the fighters. Let me let you in on a well known secret. Cotto took that same approach in letting the commission protect him outside of the ring. Mosley didn't. Margarito's handwraps were approved by the commission for the Cotto fight. Before the Mosley fight the commission at hand had already approved one of Margarito's handwraps and Richardson is the one who had to catch it. A source from your team has your individual concern as top priority and that is what each fighter needs to help protect themselves. A commission doesn't, therefore they miss things that are very detrimental. A commission missed the Panama Lewis travesty, Mosley before the second fight with DLH who was on a PED, Fernando Vargas who was on a PED against DLH, James Toney TWICE who was on a PED, Margarito at least one handwrap and only God knows how many other fights, and the list continues and not to mention what we don't know. If Pac says no to the random blood tests, fine. That's his prerogative. But to say PBF is wrong for asking such is ignorant, bias, or careless because all fighters must protect themselves and nobody wants to go into a fight with a possible cheater. Unless you really need the money a la most fighters including Malignaggi. Boxingtalk, even if you don't agree you have to admit that PBF is not wrong for wanting to make sure the playing field is level. C'mon G. Ishe, you're one of my favorites and you know this makes a lot of sense. Keep it real with me Bread. By the way, Ishe you should fight Paul Williams and shock the world. You're perfect for his style and what he offers. I think you stop him. B legit
Bread’s Response: You make some great points and your comments were very well thought out. A lot of fighters and athletes in general have gotten away with using PEDs and then found to be dirty after the fact which is too late. Floyd implied that the Phillipines has the best PEDs in the world. To me that’s enough for a reasonable person to know who he was referring to. Also I am all for stricter testing. I have said numerous times that Floyd has these advisors, consultants, managers, promoters etc. and nobody had the common sense to go to the NSAC and put a petition in for blood test. Instead they insulted Manny through the media and after insulting him, wanted him to agree to a stipulation that they were suggesting. Their tactics were very counter productive to say the least and it cost all of them more money than they would’ve ever made for one night. I’m you have heard the old folks say, its not what you do it’s how you do it.
First off let me start by saying Happy New Year!! It is amazing to me how Btalk has become so Anti Mayweather when they were Pro Mayweather for so long, and what is up with G hating on Al Haymon?? He acts like his last name is Arum with that much hate towards the guy.. But my question is this, why is everyone only talking about the blood test being the outrageous demand, and not the 10 million dollar for every pound above 147? I understand that Floyd came in over the agreed weight for Marquez, but that was at 144 (his only catch weight fight). I just think if we are going to speak on this, let's speak on all of the crazy demands, and not just the blood test. And for people saying that Floyd didn't fight people that he should have, the only name I will throw in that bag is Margarito. He tried to fight Cotto at 140, and even yall Superman Sugar Shane, wants no part of P. Will. He also tried to fight Shane, but Shane said he had a toothache, and that he was going on vacation. I guess people will say that's Floyd's fault also. I like both fighters, and I really don't favor one over the other, but this shit is getting out of hand. Nobody talks about how Manny picked the weakest champion in D. Diaz at 135, and ducked N. Campbell, who at the time was the Lineal Champ of that division. Just my thoughts. Breadman I respect your knowledge, and keep doing your thing with the Mailbags when you get them.
Pete from DC
Bread’s Response: Whats up Pete? Happy New Year to you also. I want you to know I’m not anti- Mayweather I’m pro- Truth. And your right Floyd did call Shane out after the Vargas fight and Shane stated he had a toothache. I’m sure Greg Leon will get Shane on the line very soon to clarify that in an exclusive interview. But that doesn’t mean Shane didn’t want the fight. Shane probably shouldn’t have mentioned his toothache or lil vacation and just negotiated the fight for a few months later and took care of his business on the low. And from what I hear Floyd did ask Arum to fight Cotto in I believe 2004 when he moved up to 140. But Arum saying No and Cotto saying No are 2 different things. Cotto was a lil green at the time, had been a pro for about 4years and was not the star he is now. So as a businessman Arum would be wise to let that fight simmer a lil bit. In which he did. After Cotto moves up to 147 and beats Judah and Mosley , Floyd never called him out. Let’s stay on all the facts. We both know that Floyd could’ve made those fights when they were red hot and he chose not to. After Shane beat Margarito, he and Floyd could’ve had the highest grossing fight between 2 black americans non heavyweights since Leonard v. Hagler. Floyd could’ve easily made 15 mil to fight Shane. Also he could’ve fought Cotto in 07 or 08. Now let me ask you, when would “Money” May have made more money fighting Cotto in 2004 or 2007 or fighting Shane in 2006 or 2008. Now a floyd basher might say that he didn’t fight them later because they were perceived as bigger threats. I've got to comment on what has quickly become the most talked about subject in recent boxing history which is in relation to the proposed Mayweather -vs- Pac Man fight. I really enjoy reading the comments from boxing fans from both sides of the spectrum. It has become very obvious that if you have any dislike whatsoever of Mayweather for any reason, then it seems as though he is trying to find someway out of this fight. Or at least that is what some people suggest. We got to this point during the negotiations for this fight. That's right I said FIGHT. Team Mayweather as a part of the negotiating process wants there to be better testing done that would potentially detect PED or HGH. Before I go on, I must state that Pac Man is one of my favorite fighters. Mayweather is also one of my favorites. But I think it is quite odd how these events have turned out. So one of the fighters wants stricter testing done in order to prevent there from being any questions as to whether anyone is using any type drug that gives them an advantage. For the life of me I cannot understand why Pac Man is throwing a temper tantrum over this. It's a series of random tests to ensure a clean fight. Now I understand that this is not a standard test that is normally used by the NSAC before fights, but as a negotiating tool it was requested. If Pac Man or whoever doesn't want to abide by that part of the negotiations, he doesn't have to. But it immediately raises a huge red flag as to why that would be the deal breaker for a fight that would be possibly the biggest fight ever. For one thing, it would make Pac Man and Mayweather the biggest paydays of their careers. Two, it would propel whichever fighter wins into the best fighter of our modern era. Obviously this is a HUGE fight. It just seems crazy to me that now Pac Man is trying to sue for defamation? Seems to me that if Pac is so pissed about being accused of roids that the best way would be to just agree to the gigantic payday, take the tests and remove any doubt, knock out Mayweather and then ride off into the sunset. Instead he is trying to sue. Cmon Pac, fighters fight. They don't go to court because someone thinks your roided up. Lace em up and beat PBF's ass. Mayweather would be laughed at and despised even more than he already is by all of his haters if Pac were to agree to the tests, and then go on to beat Mayweather. But, I don't see this happening. For whatever reason, what once was a fight that was on the verge of happening is now on the verge of collapse and we're now having to listen to the representatives for the fighters instead of the fighters themselves. Nobody wants to hear Bob Arum and his sour grapes talk about Mayweather and nobody cares to hear from Richard Schaefer anymore. At this point this fight just needs to be made so they can FIGHT. Not go to court. I don't feel as though it's about one guy being scared of the other so the only thing that seems to be the reason is the blood test so please Manny, just agree to the damn test. Unless there is something you don't want us to see, then refuse the fight and potentially your spot as one of the greatest of all-time.
Breads’s Response: I see your frustrated. Join the club bro. Both of these guys have ruined this fight. I wish Manny would just take the test for my own selfish reasons but he has a right not to do something that he feels will weaken him. I feel like a compromise was in order, but after the insults and insinuations start flying, then pride takes over and the whole shit gets messy. I do agree that Manny has the right to sue, especially since he has come up clean thus far. I have read statements that “you can carry the muscle and strength you gained from PEDs even after you stop using, so once a juicer always a juicer‘. Dam can you imagine, you have worked hard your whole career to accomplish something only to get is smeared because you outperformed peoples expectations. I feel like Manny’s rep will at least be slightly tarnished no matter what happens from now on and IF he’s clean that would be a shame and for that somebody has to be found liable. If Manny is dirty I will be the 1st to bash him, but as of now I feel these claims are baseless. Let me touch on a few things as to why. Some people have said that it is uncommon that a fighter’s chin gets better as he goes up in weight. And Manny was stopped twice as a flyweight so something is not right because he’s taking welterweight punches. Ok anybody ever heard of Roberto Duran. Duran gets dropped at 135 twice by Esteban Dejesus. He fights Hagler at 160 10 yrs later and Barkley at 160 17 years later and neither guy was able to put him down. Can anybody say DeJesus was a bigger puncher than Hagler or Barkley. George Foreman gets stopped by Ali and dropped by Jimmy Young in his prime, comes back and is walking thru punches like the Terminator. Im getting historical on you guys now. Eusebio Pedroza was one of the best featherweights ever. But before that he was stopped 3 times at bantamweight. All guys who got dropped or stopped at lower weights, went up in weight and showed good chins. The list is bigger trust me. A guy getting stopped has many variables. Experience and the ability to see the punches coming better. Also not being so wreckless when you attack. You are most vulnerable when you are punching. Next they say hes carried his power up with him. So did Thomas Hearns remember he knocked Dennis Andries down like 4 times at 175. Hearns turned pro at 147. Trinidad carried his power from 147 to 160. Oscar turned pro at 130 and destroyed vargas at 154. Roy Jones turned pro at 154 and stopped Virgil Hill with a body shot at 175. Ok so we have seen that before. Now Manny’s physique comes into question. All we have to do is look at Floyds impeccable body at 150 and look at him at 128 turning pro. Same definition. Some men carry cut some don’t ,genetics. Lastly the biggest misinterpretation. Manny put on 17lbs of muscle in 18 months. So NOT true. If you look at the unofficial HBO scale Manny was walking in the ring at 144 for 130lb fights. And his recent welterweight fights he walked in the ring around 149. So what does that tell us. That he just doesn’t have to cut so much water weight anymore. Period! So there is my reasons on why these claims are baseless N
