Boxing News And Notes

One of the matches Boxingtalk.com first suggested in our article "Some Heavy Help Needed at HBO" is already virtually done, as Lamon Brewster is set to defend his WBO title against Andrew Golota. Golota has gotten the short end of the stick in two very close decision losses to heavyweight champs, Chris Byrd and John Ruiz, naturally Team Golota is hoping the third time's a charm.

According to a minor website, Team Courtney Burton is filing a ridiculous protest over his twelfth round KO loss to Ebo Elder last Friday night. Burton was the benefactor of one of the (if not the) worst decision of the year when his hometown judges gave him the Emmanuel Augustus fight. In the Augustus fight, Burton was knocked out by a body shot that referee Dan Kelley ruled a low blow.  Had Burton not gotten the gift over Augustus (a decision so bad it prompted the Boxing Writers Association of America to send a letter to that joke of a commission in Michigan) he probably wouldn't have been fighting Ebo Elder. In either case, BT doesn't expect Burton's protest to go far.
