Blair The Flair Cobbs: I will win world title in 2020

Greg Leon: Congrats on your recent victory over Carlos Ortiz Cervantes. Can you give us some thoughts on your performance? Blair Cobbs: "I think that my performance was good. Of course there's going to be a lot more to see from Blair The Flair. There was a slight hiccup at the end of the first round, I got hit in the back of the head (and went down) which happens to the best of us, but I got back up and finished the fight." Greg Leon: Were you surprised he put on you on your ass early? What was going through your head when that happened? Blair Cobbs: "It wasn't like a full knockdown, I just was knocked off balance for a second and regained my balance and composure, maintained my focus. I wasn't really hurt buy it at all, it was more of a balance shot."

GL: At what point did you feel like you had full control of the fight?

BC: "There was a few things I worried about, so I was kind of like in and out until I figured out his punch selection and how he does certain things, the punches he got me on the back of the head with was an overhand left, so I was darting in and out shooting punches, so I could make him pick up his feet so he can't be set to throw punches. It took me a couple of rounds to figure out his punch selecton and how to stop his left hand completely at close range. The moment I was able to stop that left hand by catching it, I started inching closer and closer, then I started to let off the combinations, and of course the final knockdown of the fight."

GL: You landed what looked like an eight punch combination on him that appeared to take a lot out of him. Did you sense that in the ring?

BC: "Absolutely. If I get close to an opponent a lot of things can happen, ten punch combinations, all power punches, those weren't fluffy punches. I don't know which one of those punches broke his ribs, but one of those punches broke his ribs. It was a very exciting fight. Every time I get into the ring I'm getting better and better and more seasoned as a fighter."

GL: Welterweight is red hot and on fire. Who do ou want to fight the most? Is it time for you to get on the fast track?

BC: "I'm not really calling people out. I'm just trying to take it one fight at a time and move forward and progress as a boxer and basically keep learning and growing. My skills are improving at a ridiculous rate and I'm ready for anybody my team puts in front me...any time, any where, Blair The Flair will be there."

GL: You said you're improving at a rapid rate, but there's no such thing as a perfect fighter. What part of your game do you feel needs the most improvement?

BC: "It's very few things. Just getting a little more comfortable with catching and carrying punches, things like that. This is a sport where with one little mistake you could get hurt. It's very little and subtle things that are going to make a drastic change in my boxing abilities. In the gym I'm destroying everybody though. I'm just trying to convert everything I'm doing in the gym into the actual fight. There's a big difference coming from 16oz gloves to 8oz gloves, so I have to do things a little bit differently. Once these little things are corrected I will be able to take over fights quickly and make that warming up phase a lot shorter."

GL: You fought four times this year. Are you expecting the same level of activity next year?

BC: "I'm not sure, I'm leaving that in the hands of Golden Boy Promotions. They're doing a wonderful job with getting me the right fights to challenge me while keeping me winning on this road to me becoming a true champion."

GL: Any early indication as to when the next one will take place?

BC: "I'm not very sure, but Blair the Flair is must see TV 100, he's a character that needs to be seen in front of a very large audience. Everyone needs to see Blair the Flair. I'm looking forward to fighting as soon possible. Maybe February or March, but you can be sure that Blair the Flair is going to be back early next year in another grand fight."

GL: What are your goals for 2020? Where are you next year at this time?

BC: "We're looking forward to capturing a world title, I'm pretty sure some of these titles are going to be vacated and I'm going to be able to fight for one and bring it back for Golden Boy Promotions."

GL: So when are you and Rick Flair linking up? I mean this has to happen. Him wooing during your post fight interviews would be hilarious.

BC: "Very soon, it's going to happen. The people in the WWE world love me, it's only a matter of time and it's a wonderful time to be alive. Triple H already gave me a shoutout, so it's just been amazing."

GL: Closing thoughts for the fans.

BC: "Closing thoughts for the fans is Blair the Flair is the most exciting fighter there is in the game today. You could check me out on Instagram, twitter and facebook. And for more exciting content you can look me up on BlairTheFlair.com
