Berto hoping to fight for title before the end of the year

GL: It's been a minute since we had you on Boxingtalk. How was training camp and what can we expect to see from you on Saturday night? "Training camp went terrific. I put in the work and now it's just time for me to get out there and be myself and put on another exciting performance."

GL: What do you know about your opponent?

Andre Berto: "His name is Martinus Clay I don't much about him other than that he's a tough little veteran and I seen a few tapes and I don't think his record does him any justice because he comes to fight every time. I think it's going to be an exciting competitive fight for the fans in Memphis."

GL: Do you think this competitive fight is going the distance?

AB: "It just depends. It has the potential to. He's a lefty and he goes the distance a lot so I wouldn't be surprised. But if he comes out to fight it could be another short night."

GL: Will HBO show clips of this fight?

AB: "Yeah. That's what I've been told. I was a late addition to the show so it's just going to be clips this time."

GL: If everything goes your way on Saturday night what's going to be next and when can we expect to see in a fight where victory isn't predetermined?

AB: (laughs) "Right now I'm focusing on getting past Saturday night. Once I get by that I'll be back on HBO Boxing After Dark in August or September against a top ten contender and then hopefully before the end of the year I'll be fighting for the title, but we'll see."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

AB: "I've been out for a little bit, but Saturday night is going to be one fight that inches me closer to the title shot. If you can't be there, be sure to tune in because it's going to be an exciting night of boxing."
