Berrio Captures IBO Intercontinental Crown

Press release: Columbian knockout artist Alejandro "Naco" Berrio (Cartagena, Colombia) moved one step closer to a world title fight by stopping durable Carl Handy (New Orleans, LA) in eight rounds to win the IBO Intercontinental Light Heavyweight Championship in Boyton Beach, FL. Saturday night before a capacity crowd.

This latest performance by Berrio was a perfect display of dismantling an oppent round by round. Both fighters began the bout with a feeling out process. This would completely vanish by the third round when Berrio began delivering vicious body shots with both hands, which would later be the culprit of Handy's destruction.

As the seventh round neared its end, it was very visible that the majority of the fight was taken out of Handy. As the bell sounded, Handy would stagger back to his corner where he would remain.

With this latest win, Berrio's record climbs to 22-3 (21 KO's) while Handy falls to 19-5-2  (13 KO's).

Many ringsiders agreed that this was Jeff Gibson's (Elite Promotions) most exciting fight card to date with a championship bout being the icing on the cake.
