Bernard Hopkins Turned Down $4 Million to Fight Mikkel Kessler in Denmark

Team Kessler Says it Would Have Went to $5 Million

Earlier this year, Team Kessler offered Bernard Hopkins $4 Million to fight in Denmark.  According to Team Kessler, Bernard Hopkins wanted nothing to do with this fight and won’t even talk about a Kessler fight.  For the 44 year old Hopkins, time is running for one last big fight.  Proposed fights with Adamek and Dawson have not seemed to garnish enough interest from HBO to handle the size of Hopkins star power purse.  Although Kessler has only fought twice since his loss to Joe Calzaghe, the Viking Warrior is still considered the best super middleweight in the world.  If Hopkins was looking for a big name big money fight, selling out a soccer stadium in Europe against a potential P4P fighter might not be the worst option.  Team Kessler also conveyed the fact that Mikkel would have come to the United States to fight Hopkins.  Kessler will most likely go ahead with his WBA mandatory against Gusmyl Perdoma.  Hopkins will most likely try renegotiating a fight with Adamek.
