After six bloody rounds in Tucson, Arizona, Miguel Berchelt was declared the winner by technical knockout when Francisco Vargas' corner stopped their man from coming out for more punishment. Vargas had not fought in thirteen months ago due to facial injuries, and this time around, his face was a mess once again. Berchelt remains the WBC 130-pound champion, and said afterwards he wants to unify against the winner of the IBF title fight between Masayuki Ito and Jamel Herring.
