Accomplice gets 14 Years
Harold Berbick, nephew and convicted murderer of former heavyweight champion Trevor Berbick has received a sentence of 20 to life. Trevor was convicted of first degree murder while his accomplice, Kenton Gordon, was convicted of manslaughter. Gordon received a sentence of 14 years imprisonment in a hard labor camp. Trevor Berbick was found dead on October 28th 2006 and was apparently beaten to death by a pipe and a crow bar. Harold claimed it was self defense while his mother Gwendolyn Facey, claimed that Trevor was abusive and threatened the lives of her and her son on multiple occasions. The claims went unnoticed by the court and Justice McDonald explained that the murder was a "cruel, vicious and calculated act" and that Harold showed no remorse. Harold Berbick and Kenton Gordon both plan appeals. Source: The Jamaica Observer Â
