Albert Batyrgaziev and Jono Carroll will step into the ring on Friday, July 12th to fight for the WBA interim junior lightweight belt in Serpukhov, Russia. Batyrgaziev, the home fighter will face the experienced Irishman in a bout that will provide the winner with the opportunity to fight the WBA 130-pound champion, who is currently Lamont Roach Jr. Batyrgaziev is a 2021 Olympic featherweight champion who jumped to the professional ranks four years ago, even before winning the medal. His opponent will be Carroll, 32 years old, who  defeated Miguel Marriaga last year and has victories against rivals like ex-champ Scott Quigg and Andy Vences. This week they will participate in promotional events leading up to the fight and on Thursday they will step up to the scales.
