Reports out of Argentina say Jorge Barrios will make the first defense of his WBO 130-pound title on August 12 in Cordoba, Argentina against Victor Santiago of Puerto Rico. Barrios, best known for losing a 2003 war against Acelino Freitas, won the title from Mike Anchondo earlier this year. Santiago, who peviously capmaigned at 126 pounds, is listed at 18-3. He lost to Edel Ruiz in October 2004. On the undercard, ex-WBC cruiser titlist Marcelo Dominguez will defend the South American heavyweight title against Fabio Moli.
