Barrett. Camacho Jr headline in Arizona

PRESS RELEASE: In Arizona, heavyweight Monte Barrett returns to the ring on February 2, 2008 from his knockout of Cliff Couser. This time, Barrett will take on Damon "Dangerous" Reed in a ten-round affair. The card will take place at 944 Super Village Stetson Canal in Scottsdale, AZ. The 36-year-old Barrett is looking to make one more run for a title, and he knows that he can ill afford to stumble in this fight.

"We feel that Barrett is still one of the best heavyweights in the world," commented promoter Zef Ramirez, "and we are excited about being part of his run for a world title,

In the co-feature, Hector Camacho, Jr. (43-3-1, 25 KOs) makes his debut under the Zeferino Entertainment banner, and Camacho will be in with veteran Luis Lopez (13-11-1).  Boxing insiders will be able to see for themselves if rumors of a rededicated Camacho are true.

"Hector realizes how close he came to being world champion," added promoter Zeferino Ramirez, "and he's been a new man these last few months. He has a fire in his belly that I have not seen before. Make no mistake about it, on February 2nd we are going to see the real Hector Camacho Jr." we hoping we can land a fight with the tough Carlos Baldamor in April, 2008.

Rounding off the card, two of Zeferino Entertainment's top prospects will square off in tough fights against dangerous opponents. In an extremely competitive bout, popular super middleweight Carlos De Leon Jr. (19-1-2, 12 KOs) faces Fernando Zuniga (26-9) who is looking to knock out the Puerto Rican prospect. Zuniga has scored some upsets recently, like his win over Troy Rowland.

In the feature event one of Eastern Kansas' favorite sons returns as "the Gatti of the Rockies" David Medina (17-2, 9 KOs), coming off a decision win over Skyler Thompson, attempts to show local fans just how good a fighter he is when he steps in the ring against Jose Luis Gonzales. Medina commented, "its one thing to call me out its another to face me. We'll see what he's got."

In another highly anticipated fight, welterweight prospect Marvin Cordova Jr. (17-0-1, 11 KOs) takes on the durable Darien Ford (11-15, 4 KOs). Ford has a win over well-known Ivan Robinson last year, and he is hoping to find lighting in a bottle again in Arizona. However, Cordova has looked exceptional in his last few fights, and he is promising a knockout over his veteran opponent.

In a four round middleweight fight, Geoffery Spurill (5-5, 1 KO) takes on an opponent to be named. Spurill is coming in off a decision in Las Vegas over prospect Angel Flores. The win has propelled his career, but a loss would all but close the book on his mini-run at establishing himself as a prospect.
