Barrera-Marquez to fight for WBC title!

Pacquiao must wait to fight for green belt!

Moments ago Golden Boy Promotions Matchmaker Eric Gomez contacted Boxingtalk.com to inform us that the WBC will allow Marco Antonio Barrera to voluntarily defend his title against Juan Manuel Marquez on March 17. Gomez read the WBC's letter to Boxingtalk, "Dear Friends, Due to the difficult controversy and with the case being in Federal Court in the United States, the WBC will approve a voluntary defense by Marco Antonio Barrera against Juan Manuel Marquez on March 17 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The WBC will however order the winner of that fight to enter into immediate negotiations with challenger Manny Pacquiao. A purse offer will be held 21 days after the voluntary defense." Gomez added, that Golden Boy is hoping there will be a court ruling on the matter of Pacquiao's promotional status by the time negotiations for the Barrera-Marquez winner and Pacquiao commence on March 18. Barrera-Marquez will take place at The MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. HBO PPV will televise.  (5:17 PM EST)
