Barnes Targets Hare

British Welterweight Champion David Barnes is confident that he will retain his title against James Hare on 12 November at the Northbridge Leisure Centre in Halifax.

Barnes and Hare face each other in real 'trade' fight that is sure to excite the capacity crowd in attendance and produce the expected fireworks between the two best 147-pounder's in Britain.

This will be the Manchester stars third defence following victories over Kevin McIntyre and Glen McLarnon and a win will earn him ownership of the prestigious belt.

Barnes said, "I have not underestimated Hare one bit.  I have prepared for this fight like no other and firmly believe I will be the winner,"

"I respect Hare, he's a qood fighter and nice fella out of the ring but I'm going in there to do my job which is to win the fight and if the knockout comes then all the better,"

"Winning the British title last year was my dream since I started boxing as an amateur and the other one was to win it outright.  I'm close to achieving that now with only one more obstacle to overcome.  I've got future ambitions but I'm not looking at them until I've got Hare out of the way,"

"I've watched Hare for a long time and I know how to beat him.  It's a fight that I have wanted for a long time and one that the public have called for.  In this fight you will see the best of me and I'm looking forward to showing that I am the number one in Britain."  Finished Barnes.

Chief support on the card features the rematch between Manchester's 'Magic' Matthew Hatton and Barnsley's Rob Burton for the Central Area Welterweight Title.  Hatton beat Burton in May this year to claim the title and Burton is out for revenge.

Hot light-middleweight prospects Thomas McDonagh and Matthew Hall from Manchester and Martin Concepcion from Leicester plus Huddersfield welterweight Tyron McInerey and Sheffield cruiserweight Simon Francis complete the card.
