Barboza defeats Saucedo

Arnold Barboza, Jr. W10 Alex Saucedo... In the chief supporting bout at Las Vegas' MGM Grand, Arnold Barboza. Jr. emerged as a junior welterweight contender when he defeated Alex Saucedo by unanimous decision over ten very active round. Barboza (25-0) got off the canvas to prevail over Saucedo by scores of 96-93 and 97-92 (twice). Barboza inexplicably began the fight in a southpaw stance, and it likely cost him the first two rounds. But Barboza began asserting himself in round three, taking advantage of Saucedo's poor defense to begin putting rounds in the bank. Saucedo, a blood and guts warrior, remained competitive and scored a knockdown in round seven. It was originally ruled a slip, but under the Nevada Athletic Commission's new rule, the call was reviewed and quickly changed to a knockdown when the round ended. A big win for Barboza. source: espn
