Promoter Art Pelullo/Banner Promotions will present a sensational fight card on Friday, April 21, 2006, in the Rollins Center Ballroom at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, located at 1131 North DuPont Highway in Dover, Delaware. The featured fights will be televised on Comcast’s CN8 Network on a delayed basis.
In the 12-round main event, Takalani Ndlovu, 24-3 with 15 knockouts, of Johannesburg, South Africa, will make his first defense of the IBO super bantamweight title against Fabio Oliva, 24-3 with 12 knockouts, of Catamarca, Argentina.
28 year-old Ndlovu has won four fights in a row, which include winning the IBO title in his last fight in November. Ranked No. 12 in the world by the IBF and No. 15 by the WBC, he is also the South African featherweight champion, and has made five successful defenses of that title.
Oliva, also 28 years old, is the Argentinian jr. featherweight champion, and has made one successful title defense. He is also a former South American jr. featherwight champion, and made three successful defenses of that title.
The card will also feature two local favorites. Larry “The Laser” Marks, 28-7 with 16 knockouts, of Wilmington, Delaware, will face Etianne Whitaker, 32-19-2 with 21 knockouts, of Warren, Ohio, in a six-round middleweight bout, and Richard Stewart, 6-1 with 5 knockouts, of New Castle, Delaware, will fight in a six-round light heavyweight bout against William Bailey of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Four more bouts are scheduled to complete the card. All bouts are subject to change without notice.
Doors open at 7:00 P.M., the first fight begins at 8:00 P.M.
