Ex 147-pound champ to face Forrest next month
Press Release: Former worldwelterweight champion Carlos Baldomir weighed 166 1/2 pounds Thursday for his WBC-mandated weigh-in 30 days prior to meeting another ex-world welterweight champion, Vernon Forrest on July 28, 2007 in Tacoma, Wash. for what is being billed as a WBC super welterweight interim title fight [Editors note: Floyd Mayweather holds the WBC title at 154 pounds]. Baldomir had to weigh no more than 169 pounds or 10 percent over the 154-pound super welterweight limit to be in compliance with WBC rules and regulations. Baldomir, who has a record of 43-10-6, won his championship in January 2006 by decisioning Zab Judah in New York City but was dethroned by the undefeated Mayweather during November of 2006 in Las Vegas. The 12-round bout against Forrest will be televised by HBO.
