BJ Flores bout moved to Olive Branch, Mississippi

Press Release: Already a very busy day for the sport of boxing, January 20, 2007 is the date for "Super Fights," co-promoted by Silverhawk Championship Boxing and Knockout Promotions at Knox Arena in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The card is headlined by a twelve-round cruiserweight clash between unbeaten B.J. "El Pelogroso" Flores and knockout artist Chris "Cold Steel" Thomas a bout that was  originally scheduled for January 13. Flores (17-0-1 with 12 KOs) said, "I feel fantastic. I'm in great shape. We've been rotating three or four guys sparring. We had some misfortune (his brother-in-law died in a car crash pushing the fight back a week) but my mind is alright now and I'm really looking forward to this fight against Thomas (16-6-2 with 14 KOs)."  Also on the show, Sherman "The Caribbean Tank" Williams faces Ralph "Wild, Wild" West (17-9-1 with 14 KOs) in a heavyweight contest. Williams was preparing to headline a January 27 show in his native Bahamas that has been postponed. Sherman, riding a six-fight win streak, said "I don't know too much about Ralph West other than he's a big guy, around 6-5. I'll have to come in with a good strategy to get inside and throw punches. I was training for the fight in back home The Bahamas but it was pushed back. I'm not too disappointed because it'll happen in March or April when they can facilitate the casino. But I've got this fight in front of me." Prince Badi Ajamu will also fight on the card. Ajamu (25-3-1 with 14 KOs) faces veteran Craig Cummings (53-6-1, 43 KOs) over twleve rounds for a vacant minor league light heavyweight title. "I'm excited as always and looking forward to having some fun and taking care of business," the popular Prince said. "I know my opponent has had a lot of fights and after watching me fight Roy Jones, I'm sure he thinks he can beat me. But this is a new beginning for me and I'm going to fight my fight. I want to get back to having a shot at IBF champion Clinton Woods. What I learned from the Jones fight was that, even facing adversity, I find a way to keep coming. I'm all heart."
