The stage is now set for rising Mexican star Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., as well as the remainder of the card, for this Saturday (Sept. 23) night's HBO Boxing After Dark event at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.Â

Top Rank matchmaker, Bruce Trampler, announced today that Chavez, Jr., the son of 5-time world champion, Julio Cesar Chavez, will be taking on Jacy Kuhn (15-2-2, Uniontown, PA) in a ten-round bout in the welterweight division.Â

The Chavez, Jr. vs Kuhn fight will be the Semi-Main event. Two-time world champion, Jorge Arce (44-3-1, Los Mochis, Mx) challenges Masibulele Makepule (28-3, E. London, South Africa) for Makepule's WBC International Super Flyweight title in the Main Event. The Arce vs Makepule, 12-round championship bout, will also be a world title elimination bout with the winner becoming the WBC's number one rated, Super Flyweight, contender.

In addition, Trampler announced the balance of the undercard, which begins at 7:00 pm and will feature local Rio Grande Valley boxers Guadalupe De Leon, James De La Rosa and Rudy Paz.

Mission's, De Leon (7-2), will be battling highly regarded prospect, Alejandro Lopez (5-1, Los Angeles) in a 6 round featherweight clash.

The undefeated De La Rosa (9-0), of San Benito, will be fighting against an opponent to be named in a six-round Lightweight bout.

Paz (2-4), of McAllen, will be challenging Javier Martinez (4-3, Laredo) in a 4 round Super Featherweight contest.

Also added to the card is 9-time Woman's National amateur champion, Vanessa Juarez, 3-0 of Fort Worth. Juarez, considered one of the world's top young female boxers, will be going up against Amanda Knight (1-0-1, Orlando, FL) in a 6-round woman's bantamweight fight.
