Australian-based boxer Arrested as Terror Suspect

According to the Australian newspaper, the Herald Sun, featherweight Ahmed Elomar (13-0-2 with 6 KOs) has been arrested in Lebanon for having connections to a terrorist organization.  A Palestinian organization based out of Lebanon, Fatah al-Islam has been involved in violent clashes with the Lebanese Army over the last two months in the Northern area of Lebanon.  Car bombings and machine gun fire have left scores of Lebanese police, civilians and Palestinian refugees dead in the streets throughout May and June of this year and Fatah al-Islam has been linked to attempted assassinations of Lebanese officials and attempted bombings of commuter trains in Germany.  In fairness, it is not yet known if Ahmed Elomar has had a role in the recent violence or whether he is just caught up in the regional chaos.  Elomar's last bout was a draw against Phillipino Pedro Malco (14-13-2).
