Asloum triumphs in France

Brahim Asloum, Boxingtalk's #6 flyweight, beat Venezuelan Edgar Velasquez by technical decision when their bout was stopped on cuts in the eighth round Saturday in Cannet, France.  Velasquez was the victim of a rather deep cut and the doctor decided to stop the match.  Asloum himself also suffered a cut, but it was a slight one. The bout went to scorecards, where Asloum got a close decision, 78 -74, 77-75 and 77-76. Now 19-0, the Olympic gold medalist is scheduled to get his first world title shot later this year, against Velazquez's countryman, WBA titlist Lorenzo Parra. source: Yahoo en Franacais
