2004 Olympic gold medal winner Yan Bartelemy of Cuba and Sergey Kazakov, the best light flyweights in amateur boxing, seem to be destined for the gold medal bout at the world championships in Mianyang, China. Bartelemy defeated a Welsh opponent, while Kazakov, the last world champion, knocked down a British opponent on the way to a decision win.Kazakov was upset in the semi-finals of the Olympics, delaying the amateur super bout until perhaps this year. Another Cuban gold medal winner, Yuriolkis Gamboa, stopped an Afghan opponent in just 73 seconds. Cuba was 7-1 after two days of competition. Meanwhile, Russian Olympic featherweight champion Alexei Tischenko was also safely through to the next round after a points victory over Bekshod Kidirov of Uzbekistan. source: supersport zone
