Arthur Promises Captial Cracker!

Edinburgh super-featherweight star Alex Arthur returns to action in quick-time when he headlines the Meadowbank Sports Centre on Friday 3 December and has promised a capital cracker. Arthur, who was only in action just over two weeks ago with a victory over Eric Odumase in his home city, will defend his IBF Intercontinental title against a challenger to be named.

The 25-year-old is eager to get as much ring action before the year ends and was delighted to get another fight in.

"I'm so happy to be fighting again just before Christmas primarily for the fans who have supported me and I will give them a real cracker of a performance but also because it's a pay day that I need now that I have more mouths to feed at home!" said Arthur who's girlfriend Debbie recently gave birth to a baby boy.

He continued, "I wanted more fights this year because I had been inactive and the Odumase fight gave me the chance to brush off the cobwebs and show what improvements had been made with my new training team,"

"I felt my performance against Odumase was a great improvement since the Michael Gomez fight and you got to see better head and upper-body movement that had previously been neglected,"

"I'm in the gym working and improving on things every day and am still aiming to get a World title shot here in Edinburgh next year.  Until then I will continue to work away and close the year with a sensational performance." Finished Arthur.

Glasgow's Willie Limond features as chief-support when he makes the first defence of his EU Super-Featherweight title.

Rising Edinburgh star Gary Young also gets another fight in before he gets a potential title shot next year.  Now unbeaten in eleven fights with six knockouts and an all-action style, Young is sure to join Arthur and Glasgow's WBO Featherweight king Scott Harrison at the top of Scottish boxing.

Completing the card is Edinburgh middleweight Scott Forsyth and a number of fighters from Glasgow including lightweight Barry Hughes, super-featherweight Ricky Burns and welterweight Colin McNeil.

Tickets, priced at £25, £50 and £75, are available now from the Meadowbank Sports Centre on 0131 661 5351 or Sports Network Box Office on Tel: 01992 550 888.
