Cestus Management's junior welterweight sensation "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis is back in the gym and in the midst of his second week of hard sparring in preparation for his return to the ShoBox: The New Generation series, scheduled to be broadcast live on the ShowTime network on December 17, 2004.
"Mighty" Mike will be making his second consecutive appearance at the Chumash Casino in Santa Ynez, California, his first resulting in an opening round knockout of Jesse Feliciano. If the 2 minute and 49 second encounter this past October 22 was merely an appetizer, Arnaoutis insists that this coming date will provide a more satisfying meal for the exciting young prospect.
Says a focused and confident "Mighty" Mike, "Whoever I am fighting, I will be more than ready. I'm in the gym every day, just like I always am, working even harder than before and becoming a better fighter. I don't like to say that I work harder than anyone else, but I will say that I haven't met anyone yet who works harder than I do."
Advisor Mike Michael offered his views on "Mighty" Mike's upcoming bout. "After what happened with Feliciano, we realized that the boxing fans wanted to see "Mighty" Mike back in the ring as soon as possible. We got so many calls and emails asking us when he'd be back, and we just decided that since Mike had only been in with Feliciano for two and a half minutes, we'd take the first opportunity we could to get back in the ring and back on ShoBox. I don't know yet who they'll find for Mike to get in with, but whoever it is is in for a world of trouble. Like I always say, 'lock the doors and run for cover,' because "Mighty" Mike is back and he's hungry for some action!"
