Argentine flyweight going to South Africa

Press Release: Mhikiza "Showtime" Myekeni will be back in front of his hometown fans at the Orient Theatre in East London, South Africa on Friday, November 4, 2005. Myekeni is scheduled to defend his regional 112-pound title against Argentina's flyweight champion, Ricardo Toledo.  Myekeni (19-2), and rated by all four major sanctioning bodies, cannot afford any unforeseen stumbles at this juncture against the rugged Argentinean (10-11-3). Most boxing experts would frown when examining Toledo's record, but promoter Branco Milenkovic cautions against reading too deeply into his ring credentials. " Myekeni should not be misled by his opponent's average record," said Milenkovic. "He is their country's national champion and is on a roll right now. It is a known fact that Argentina, the Philippines and Ghana, in particular, produce some very tough customers who come to fight," Milenkovic pointed out. Myekeni is the country's #1 contender at 112 pounds, where Xola Mayana reigns as domestic champ. Just three weeks later, on November 25, 2005, former world champion Hawk Makepula will fight on another BSP-promoted show.
