Arce moving up to flyweight in March

Will face Hussein Hussein underneath Pacquiao-Morales

Jorge "Travieso" Arce, still the WBC 108-pound champion, is training in mountains of Mexico for a March 19, 2005 bout against Hussein Hussein that will serve as a WBC 112-pound eliminator.  Arce is rated #3 by Boxingtalk at 108, while Hussein appears at #10 in the Boxingtalk flyweight ratings.  The bout will take place in Las Vegas as part of the Erik Morales-Manny Pacquiao pay-per-view card. "I am happy that I am going to fight at flyweight," Arce told the Mexican website, Esto.  "I lasted enough at junior fly, the weight in which I made eight defenses of the [WBC] world championship.  I did not have [weight] problems in the beginning, but later I began to face the problems at the scale, and for my last fights it was torture."  A pro since the age of 16 and a world champion by 22, Arce is now just 25 and has a lot of gas left in the tank.

In other boxing news from Mexico, Guilty Boxing promoted a show in Tijuana on Friday and the winner of the main event was Michael Lozada, who won a ten-round lightweight bout by majority decision over Antonio Cervantes.  Lozada improves to 14-1-1 while Cervantes dips to 19-4-5. Local heavyweight Antonio Medevil improved to 11-1-1 by decisioning Ricardo Arce over six rounds. --Scott Shaffer
