Ann Wolfe considers fighting a man

Last year, Ann Wolfe knocked previously unbeaten, 6’6” Vonda Ward unconscious in less than one round. Since then, Laila Ali has been avoiding Wolfe like she has a contagious disease. With no other big name opponents for her to fight, Wolfe is considering a dangerous option in order to earn a six-figure purse. According to the Wall Street Journal, Wolfe has sought and received permission from the boxing commission in Mississippi to box against a man this summer.  Indications are that the bout will be more than just the side show staged in Washington in 2000 in which a woman named Margaret MacGregor defeated a bum named Loi Chow.  According to the Wall Street Journal report, which appeared in Friday’s edition,  promoter Tony Dane has narrowed down Wolfe's opponent to five men, all of whom have professional records of 10-2 or better.  Wolfe, 19-1, has about scheduled against another woman for June.  --Scott Shaffer
