Alvarez vs. Scull purse bid officially DOA

UPDATE: After two postponements, the IBF announced that its planned purse bid for a Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. William Scull super middleweight fight has been cancelled. The news came out about an hour before the bid was set to take place. Normally, a cancelled purse bid means that the parties have agreed to terms for a fight, but in this case, Alvarez has all four belts and a staggering disparity in name recognition compared to the little-known Scull, so it is assumed Alvarez-Scull will never happen and the IBF may strip Alvarez and allow Scull to fight for the vacant title. Alvarez still owns the other three major belts and is still considered the true world champion at 168 pounds. The next IBF title fight at 168 pounds could be Scull vs. #2 rated Vladimir Shishkin for the vacant title.
