Allan Green: October 19 Will Be A Short Night

GL: Sherwin Davis has been announced as your October 19 opponent, what can we expect to see from you? "I'm excited about getting back in the ring again, I had surgery August 16 so I've been recovering and back in training, but I'm feeling good and I'm ready so people can expect to see the best in Allan Green."

GL: Will it be a short night?

Allan Green: "Short. Very short. I'm not going to go out there and push it or nothing, but it will be short."

GL: Is your body 100%? Obviously you had a couple of procedures, which we touched on in previous discussions, which you feel inhibited you from performing at your best...

AG: (cutting in) "I feel great, I feel a lot better than I did before I feel great."

GL: Since October 19 is going to be a short night, where will you go from there?

AG: "Hopefully I could get a big name in the ring. Whether it's Calzaghe, Kessler, Pavlik, any of those guys. I'm just ready to fight big fights man."

GL: I just spoke with Peter Manfredo and the topic of discussions seems to be Jeff Lacy without you being on the radar, why is that?

AG: "He wants no parts of this. His dad and him are playing their game. It only makes sense for the guys with names in the division to collide and he keeps on avoiding me to fight other guys. And the same goes for Jeff Lacy. We were supposed to fight more than once. He called me out and I answered his call and then he turns around and tucked his tail between his legs like he don't want to fight. Now all they talk about is fighting each other, like they talked and said let's just leave Allan Green alone."

GL: Who do you like in Calzaghe-Kessler?

AG: "I like Joe. Kessler is strong, but he's somewhat ordinary. I think Joe is a little too smart for him and will outbox him."

GL: I spoke with Jerson Ravelo recently and he made it clear that he wants to fight you again, much like you want to fight Edison Miranda again. Is he on your radar?

AG: "It depends on what he does. Jerson has to beat a significant name. To me he got a gift by fighting me in the first place because he really hadn't fought anybody. I was giving a guy who wanted to be a contender a chance. Jerson should fight someone like Jaidon Codrington, Pascal or even Andre Ward. Beat somebody like that and then I'll fight him again. For me to say Jerson, I already knocked you out but I'm going to give you another opportunity. It doesn't work like that. Even if I beat him again, it wouldn't do anything for my career."

GL: By your own admissions, that differs from your situation, how?

AG: "In a way it does, but in a way it doesn't. Miranda lost his last fight also so that kind of puts us right there. I want to fight him again, but I'm not sitting here sweating him and calling him out. But of course, I want to fight him again. I know this is a business and I know how this game works. He's not going to say, I'm going to fight Allan again, something has to be at stake."

GL: Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?

AG: "I will be champion in 2008 at middleweight or super middleweight."
