Alberto Puello agrees to face Sandor Martin

WBC regular junior welterweight titleholder Alberto Puello will make his first title defense against Sandor Martin of Spain. No date or venue has been announced yet, but according to the WBC, the parties have agreed to the terms for Puello's mandatory defense of the world championship. In his most recent fight, the Dominican Puello (23-0, 10 KOs) was crowned interim 140-pound title holder by the WBC after defeating Gary Antuanne Russell by decision. He was subsequently named as the full WBC champion after Devin Haney became champion in recess, but Boxingtalk does not regard Puello as a legitimate world champion. For his part, Martin (42-3, 15 KOs) saw action last December, knocking out Mohamed El Marcouchi in a fight held in Italy.
