Aguirre demands immediate rematch

By Scott Shaffer

After losing a world title challenge to Roberto Vazquez on cuts, Jose Antonio Aguirre said he will petition the WBA for an immediate rematch, claiming referee Joe Cortes made an incorrect ruling and the bout should have been a technical draw.  In the WBA junior flyweight title bout held in Panama City, Cortes ruled that a cut suffered by Aguirre was caused by a punch.  Aguirre stopped fighting, complaining he could not see and Vazquez, Boxingtalk's #1 junior flyweight was declared the winner by fourth-round technical knockout.  Notimex reported that Vazquez, 20-1 with the loss coming in his pro debut, had won two of the three completed rounds.  Aguirre, rated # at 105 pounds by Boxingtalk, drops to 33-4-1.  source: Notimex
