Abraham becomes German citizen

Edited Press Release: Just like Oleg Maskaev in America, IBF middleweight title holder Arthur Abraham has become a naturalized German citizen “I was born in Armenia, my roots are there – but I grew up in Germany”, says Abraham, who has fought under the Sauerland Event promotional banner since 2003. “Here I made something of myself. Therefore I owe everything to Germany. I like living here. Germany is my home and that´s final." WBC super middleweight titlist, Markus Beyer was formerly the only German world champion, but now he shares the distinction with Beyer. “I´m pleased for Arthur.  Now there are two German boxing world champions. And we hope that´s final,” said Beyer, who meant that he hopes both he and Abraham will retain their titles. In October, Beyer has to provide for the greatest challenge of his career by competing against Mikkel Kessler in  Copenhagen. Becoming a German citizen was a complicated procedure but Abraham has to concentrat on defending his title on September 23, 2006 in Wetzlar, Germany against Edison Miranda, a fight that had to be postponed because of Abraham´s illness.
